Diploma Supplement

The European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO-CEPES developed the Diploma Supplement (DS) in order to improve international transparency and to facilitate academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.), which will improve and alleviate the mobility of graduates both within the country and abroad. The document - attached to a higher education diploma - describes in the respective national language and in English the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies that were pursued and successfully completed.
The purpose of the DS is to provide sufficient independent data, to improve the international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.). It should be free from any value judgements, equivalence statements or suggestions about recognition. Information in all eight sections should be provided. Where information is not provided, an explanation should give the reason why.

European Diploma Supplement Model defines the information that is denoted in the Diploma Supplement. Next to personal data, the DS includes the information on the study type and level, status of the higher education institution, as well as information in detail about the study program, which was graduated (terms of enrolment, study requirements, study process and, if needed, additional information). The DS is issued with a reference to the respective original documents. The Diploma Supplement provides additional information on the national higher education system, in order to fit the qualification into the relevant educational context.

The Diploma Supplement of the graduates of the Baltic International Academy is elaborated in accordance with the European Diploma Supplement Model. Diploma Supplement is being issued in English, given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation.
